What is a (Intermodal )container?
An intermodal container, often called a shipping container or a freight container, is a large standardized shipping container, designed and built for intermodal freight transport, meaning these containers can be used across different modes of transport – from ship to rail to truck – without unloading and reloading their cargo. Intermodal containers are primarily used to store and transport materials and products efficiently and securely in the global containerized intermodal freight transport system, but smaller numbers are in regional use as well.

What is the synonym of  container?

What are the types of containers?
Type1: Ordinary container /dry container/DC/dry freight/ general purpose container
 90% of the global container fleet are this type. It is a durable closed rectangular box, made of rust-retardant Corten steel. This is the type we use this one to ship our drum packed chemical materials.
Type2: Refrigerated containers (commonly known as "freezers", can carry fresh fruit food and other things.)
Type3: open top container (OT)
Type4:frame container
Type5:Flat Container
Type6:ventilated container
Type7:clothes container
Type8:car container
Type9:tank container. This is the second type of container we use.

What are the common sizes for dry containers/DC?
Defined by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard, almost all the containers are 8 feet (2.44 m) wide, and of either 20 or 40 feet (6.10 or 12.19 m) standard length,  heights are 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 m) and 9 feet 6 inches (2.90 m) – the latter are known as High Cube or Hi-Cube (HC / HQ) containers. So there are 3 common size for a container:

20GP:    Length: 20 feet* Height: 8 feet 6 inches* width 8 feet ;  
               Length: 6.10meter* Height: 2.59meter*width 2.44 m
40GP:    Length: 40 feet* Height: 8 feet 6 inches* width 8 feet ;  
               Length: 12.19  meter* Height: 2.59meter*width 2.44 m   
40HC/HQ
              Length: 40 feet* Height: 9 feet 6 inches* width 8 feet ;  
              Length: 12.19 meter* Height: 2.90meter*width 2.44 m   
 
There is also a 45HC container noe used very frequently:
        Length:45 feet* Height: 9 feet 6 inches* width 8 feet ;  
        Length: 13.72 meter* Height: 2.90meter*width 2.44 m  

What is the self-weight of a container?  
The self-weight of the 20GP is about 1.7 tons, and the self-weight of the 40GP is about 3.4 tons.

What does LCL mean?
 LCL (Less than Container Load) refers to goods with multiple owners in a container. Small batches of goods that do not fit into a full container are LCL goods, which are operated according to LCL-LCL.

What does FCL mean?
Full Container Load refers to the goods of only one owner or manufacturer in a container. Larger batches of goods that can be filled with one or more full containers are FCL goods, which are based on FCL-FCL. operate.

What is the bill of lading number?
Usually it is the number that the freight forwarder gives you to carry the container, it may be the order number of the ship owner's bill (MBL), or it may be the order number of the freight forwarding bill (HBL). Generally, the container can only be backed according to the name of the ship/voyage and the bill of lading number, that is, to extract Empty or heavy case.

Container No
Refers to the number of the container, which is unique in the world and consists of four letters and seven numbers, of which the first three letters are the code of the container owner (shipping company or rental company), the fourth letter is U, and the next six. The number is the serial number, and the last number is the check digit.

This number is usually provided by the driver, known after the container is picked up  . The box number must be used in customs declaration, document preparation, and warehouse receipt entry.

Seal Number  
Refers to the number of the seal that locks the container door. The seal is generally provided by the shipping company and needs to be purchased.
