Description

Methylpyrrolidone is an organic compound, a colorless transparent oily liquid with a slight amine odor. Low volatility, good thermal and chemical stability,  can evaporate with water vapor. It is sensitive to light. It can dissolve most organic and inorganic compounds, polar gases, natural and synthetic polymer compounds. It is miscible with water, alcohols, ethers, esters, ketones, halogenated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and castor oil. N-Methylpyrrolidonehas low toxicity, high boiling point, strong solubility, therefore it is an excellent advanced solvent.

Uses

It is an excellent solvent, widely used as an extractant in aromatic hydrocarbon extraction, lubricating oil refining, acetylene concentration, syngas desulfurization, etc. It is also used for industrial cleaning and other applications. As an outstanding extraction solvent, it is also employed as a solvent in the production of pesticides, engineering plastics, coatings, synthetic fibers, integrated circuits, etc. It can also serve as an industrial detergent, dispersant, dyeing agent, lubricating oil antifreeze agent, etc.
It is widely used as a solvent for high-grade lubricating oil refining, polymer synthesis, insulating materials, pesticides, pigments, cleaning agents, etc., as well as in organic synthesis.
It is applied in aromatic hydrocarbon extraction and the purification of acetylene, olefins, and dienes. It is used as a solvent for polymers and a medium for polymerization reactions.
