Description

n-Hexane is an organic compound, which belongs to linear saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons. It is obtained from crude oil cracking and fractionation. It is a colorless liquid with a slightly disagreeable odor. It is volatile, almost insoluble in water, and easily soluble in chloroform, ether, and ethanol. It is highly flammable, and its vapors can be explosive. Puren-Hexane is used in laboratories. Most of then-Hexane used in industry is mixed with similar chemicals called solvents.
