Octanol is a colorless, transparent oily liquid with a strong fatty odor and citrus aroma. It has low volatility, is flammable, and slightly irritating.

1. Plasticizer: Production of plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate (DOP).
2. Solvent / Extractant: Paints, inks, pharmaceutical extraction, organic synthesis.
3. Fragrance: Blending of edible and daily chemical fragrances such as rose, jasmine and citrus.
4. Surfactant: Production of non-ionic surfactants for detergents and emulsifiers.
