Sodium metasilicate nonahydrate is white cubic crystals or crystalline powder, odorless and salty in taste. It is easy to absorb moisture and deliquesce when exposed to air; when heated above 100℃, it loses crystal water and converts into anhydrous form. Its aqueous solution precipitates silicic acid upon contact with acid, and features strong alkalinity, detergency, emulsification, dispersion, buffering and water softening performance for hard water.
