Ferrous Sulfate Heptahydrate, also known as Green Vitriol, is a pale blue-green monoclinic crystalline solid with no odor. It effloresces in dry air and oxidizes to brown basic ferric sulfate on the surface in moist air. It loses water of crystallization at 64°C and converts to basic salt above 156°C. The aqueous solution is weakly acidic (pH 3.0–4.0 at 25°C) and sensitive to air and moisture.
